I can’t believe that in just a couple months she will be 1 year old, and I will be weaning her from breastfeeding. She has 5 teeth now – 3 on top, and two on bottom.  She is very close to taking her first steps now, too.  She balances perfectly on her feet for brief moments without support.  She likes looking at people at the store, and says to them, “Hey!”  She loves music.  Any music.  All music.  Even if there is a commercial on TV and she hears a tune, she stops whatever she’s doing to look up and listen, and clap her hands.

These are two of her favorite videos.  She can watch them over, and over again.  All day long.  In this first video below, when she hums, Faith tries to hum along.  She is just so in-love with music!

She crawls everywhere, and loves to explore.  She tries to open all the drawers.  She is constantly trying to play with Rocky’s dog dishes.  She helps me out when I fold laundry by pulling all the socks out of the dryer and flinging them on the floor.  She helps me with dishes by pulling out the silverware.  She literally squeals with delight when Daddy comes home from work.  She kicks, and tries to pry herself loose from me the moment she sees him walk through the door.  She is a little person with a big personality :)

In just a couple months, she will be blowing out her first candle.  And in just a couple months Aaron and I will decide if we should bring another baby into the world.  Wow.  Time is seriously flying by.  Too fast.

In just a couple months, I will also be looking for a job (daycare, or preschool) where I could take Faith with me. In just a couple months… we will be preparing for lots of changes.

Motherhood… It’s a wild ride.  A fast ride.  I am loving every moment of it ♥

Faith’s first dunk in the pool!

We had a couple 80+ degree days, so Aaron took out the kiddie pool, filled it with water (and a pot of hot water to take the chill out), and we dropped in lots of her bath toys.  I put her in her bathing suit, and went out into the sunshine.  I set her toes in the cool water, and she immediately wanted to sit down in it!  She LOVED it!

I can tell we are going to have lots of fun this summer playing in the water! :)

Faith’s 2nd Oral Examination

Faith and I went to her follow-up appointment to continue evaluating her eating issues.  We met with Megan this time; a different oral therapist.   She is very nice, but once again Faith was shy, very quiet, and just took in everything that was around her.  We tried to get her to eat a little applesauce, but again, she wasn’t interested in eating.  She played with a few toys, but mostly just wanted to stay on my lap.

Megan suggests we take a step back with her eating.  No more textured foods.  And for now, eating food is only for play.  She suggests we primarily give her hard food to gnaw on, like carrot sticks, celery sticks, Gerber teething biscuits, whole pickles, etc.   Faith will have full control of what goes in her mouth with these types of foods, since she will be the only one to hold it.  Megan said that these types of foods can help her suppress her gag reflex, (since she has an overly sensitive gag reflex) and help train her tongue to push the food from side to side.   We can dip a carrot stick in applesauce or other smooth pureed foods once she becomes more comfortable.

So Aaron went to the store to get carrots, celery, pretzel sticks, Slim Jims… lots of stick food! :)   And so far… Faith is really enjoying her carrot stick! :)

Faith will continue going to therapy for awhile.  Hopefully with continued appointments we will get her on track with her eating!  Please keep her in your prayers!  Thank you!
