Goodbye Starbucks. Parting is such sweet sorrow ♥

I have a moment to myself right now, and with a mug of hot kitchen-coffee at my side, I would like to talk about my love affair with Starbucks.  Just the word Starbucks makes my mouth water.  My mug of Folgers home brewed kitchen-coffee I am sipping on right now just doesn’t warm my soul as much as a Venti Cinnamon Dolce Latte from Starbucks.  That sweet warm cinnamon smell, and whipped cream topping… oh my gooooooodness.  That magical caffeine that only Starbucks brews makes my smile just a little bigger, and my heart beat just a little faster ♥  My sweet sweet love.

Even my daughter has an innate craving for it …

Too bad I have to say goodbye.

Starbucks has severed its relationship with me.  Cut me off.  Called it quits.  Starbucks doesn’t love me anymore :(

How did this happen?  Well, the  CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, sent a clear message to anyone who supports traditional marriage over gay marriage … “We don’t want your business.”  (Read full article here.)

I support traditional marriage.  I am a Christian.  I believe in the Bible, and it is my desire to follow God’s Word to the best of my ability.  As a Christian, I understand that, “Everyone will hate you because of Me.” (Luke 21:17-19)  As a Christian, I also understand that it is my duty and also my pleasure to, “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” (Mark 12:31)  It is not my place to judge anyone… “Who are you that you presume to pass judgment on your neighbor?” (James 4:12)  As a Christian I understand that, “We are all sinners.” (Romans 3:23)  I am no better than anyone.  My, “righteous acts are like filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6)

I suppose I can continue giving into my fleshly desires and maintain my Starbucks addiction… after all, I am a consumer of many things, and I have no idea what the beliefs are of all the CEO’s who run businesses that I buy from.   When Chick-fil-A publicly announced their support of traditional marriage, they also said their service tradition “is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.”  Chick-fil-A welcomes everyone.  However, CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, didn’t simply announce his support of gay marriage.  No.  Shultz continued by telling supporters of traditional marriage that, “he does not want the business of anyone who believes that marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman.”

How can I continue buying from them now?  It would be like stealing a kiss from someone who does not want to kiss you.  Only mutual love is truly satisfying.  Starbucks’s coffee has now become a bitter drink to swallow.

Starbucks can no longer sit well in my stomach when I am now convicted by the Holy Spirit living inside of me to take this opportunity to show where my true love lies.  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.” (Luke 10:27)

According to DumpStarbucks.com, “Starbucks has declared a culture war on all people of faith.”  Dump Starbucks is, “urging customers across the globe to ‘Dump Starbucks’ because it has taken a corporate-wide position that the definition of marriage between one man and one woman should be eliminated.”  I can get on board with what this organization is doing.  What about yourself?  You can sign their petition here.

Well, Starbucks has beat me to it.  They have dumped me before I could dump them.  Ok Starbucks.  I’ll accept the fact that you don’t love me anymore.  You won’t find me stalking you.  I won’t creep through your drive thru in the dark just to catch a whiff of your lovely scent as it has now become a “stench in my nostrils.” (Isaiah 65:5)  I will keep drinking my kitchen-coffee which is tasting sweeter by the moment.

I have a Starbucks Gift Card with a balance of $15.26.  Who ever would like it, I would be happy to mail it to you!  First come, first served! :)

My husband is making roast chicken for dinner, while simultaneously tending to our crabby little daughter so I can  finish my homework.  Faith just cut her first tooth yesterday!  She is fussy because her gums hurt, and she seems to be finding some relief while gnawing at a stalk of celery :)

Hanging out with Daddy = Happy Baby.  Hands free = Happy Daddy.  Undisturbed study time = Happy Mommy :)
