Faith is 11 Months Old Today! ♥

In exactly 1 month it will be Faith’s very first birthday.  Where has the year gone?   It always amazes me when I see a baby grow and change so much in just their first year, and now that I’m a mother,  I am still amazed. Every day there is something new to see.  She has grown so fast, and learned so much in just 11 months. She has developed such a sweet expressive face.  Her eyes show her thoughts and feelings so clearly.  She just adores the world she lives in!  We are so blessed to have such a joyous girl in our lives.

She is very close to walking!   I really believe she can walk around all she wants now, but she is nervous about it which makes her hesitant.  However, she does frequently take a couple steps towards me, Aaron, or towards another piece of furniture.  Just a couple little steps all on her own, but it’s a start :)  It won’t be long now!

She still isn’t a big fan of eating solids, but she has improved some.  I will be giving Faith her own little smash cake for her birthday.  I don’t know if she will want to eat any, but I’m sure she will enjoy digging into it and playing with it!

She loves going out with us.  When we go to the grocery store, or Lowes, she loves sitting in the cart and is content with so much to look at.  She sometimes wiggles around in her seat; does a little dance, and babbles real loud to show how excited she is to be out and about with her mommy and daddy!  She likes seeing little kids in the aisles, and she loves looking at everything on the shelves.  When I say, “You want to go bye bye in the car?”  Her eyes light up and she smiles so big!  I love seeing her so happy!

I’ve already begun preparing for her little backyard birthday party.  We’re so excited to celebrate her special day with friends and family.  I know Faith is too young to really remember her first birthday, but will take lots of pictures and videos!

Will she ever sleep through the night?

I am preparing to help Faith start sleeping through the night.  I believe there is no way to truly avoid the “cry it out method.”  It is inevitable there will be tears.  She will be weaned next month, so Faith has to stop expecting to be nursed back to sleep several times a night.  Before I start letting her alone in her crib throughout the night, I want to introduce to her some self soothing toys.

I’ve seen lots of “loveys” in the stores.  There are cute little blankets with soft animal heads attached to them.  They are like modern day security blankets.  They’re very cute.  Here’s a few pics of some of them …

So instead of buying one, I decided to crochet her one…

Now that it is made, it will smell like me a little.  I’ve heard that if you put a shirt of yours in the crib, your smell will comfort them throughout the night.   I have been nursing her with her new owl lovey today… hoping to associate nursing/cuddling with her new security blanket.   I sure hope her owl blankie will become a successful self-soother.  She is now asleep in her crib, and holding onto it! :)

There is one more thing I want to get her to help distract her from being alone in her crib.  It’s a Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother Aquarium.

I saw this soother toy in Target, and I think Faith will be mesmerized by it.  The lights make it look like moving water, and the oceans sounds and songs are very pretty.  It even has a remote control so I can turn it on and off without going into the room to disturb her.  Once I get this toy, I will start leaving her alone in her crib, and hope for the best!

As for tonight, she is getting aquainted with her owl friend :)  I knew she would like the owl because one of her favorite night-time lullaby videos has an owl in it … she loves this :)

Sweet dreams!

Hubby’s Bday ♥

Yesterday was my husband’s 37th birthday.  I had to be creative, and find out a way to make it special with little to no money.  Fortunately, there was a local free event at a vineyard here in town.  He loves the vineyard.  It’s so beautiful.  So I made egg salad sandwiches, grabbed some snacks and drinks, and we picnicked at the vineyard.  Simple, sweet… and he enjoyed it :)

I made him a chocolate birthday cake, meatloaf, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and garden-fresh broccoli we got from his parent’s garden.

I also made him a birthday card, and traced Faith’s hand while she was sleeping to make it extra special.  He liked it :)

Now, the weekend is over.  Here it is Monday morning.  Made my new cinnamon spice Dunkin Donuts coffee… so yummy!
