Cribs, Recliners, keys, and a little luck.

Friday morning, I got ready for work as usual.  Fed Rocky, leashed him up, grabbed my tea, and my purse, and headed out the door.  Then I realized… I left my keys on the kitchen table.  I really thought that pregnancy-induced forgetfulness was an old wive’s tale.  I was wrong.  I mean, I saw my keys sitting on the table as I was packing my lunch for work!  But my zombie brain just grabbed my purse (just inches away from my keys) and I walked out the damn door.  In my defense,  it is my habit to keep my keys in my purse, but I knew my keys were on the table!  What is wrong with me!?  Luckily I didn’t forget my cell phone, so I called my sister, and she took me to work.  My dad picked me up after work, and (once again I forgot) that he had made spare keys for my house and car.  Wish I could have remembered that in the morning while I was sitting outside, waiting for my sister to pick me up.  Goodness.

My St. Patrick’s Day started out badly.  We woke up and got ready to get our Slumber Time Elite by Simmons crib at Target.  I grabbed my rings out of my strawberry soap dish, and my engagement ring fell down the floor vent!  OMGoodness I already felt the tears starting to well up.  Aaron got a flashlight.  I sat next to the vent, trying to peer down it with the flashlight.  The duct pipe is curved, so I was hoping it was lying in the curved part, and didn’t go all the way down.  I didn’t see it.  I put my hand down in it.  Still nothing.  I’m holding back tears.  Put my hand down farther… I felt something fuzzy.  I hope it was insulation, and not an animal, but I didn’t care.  Put my hand down as far as I could… felt it!  Grabbed it!  Thank God!  A little Irish luck was on my side.

And yes, there is such a thing as “Pregnancy Butterfingers.”   All I wanted to do was take a nap after that.

My mom has a 20% discount card for Big Lots that she said we can use towards a recliner.  I really need one to breast feed, and rock the baby in during all those middle-of-the-night feedings.  So we went to Big Lots, and tried out all of the recliners.

The one I was sitting in, in the picture above, was heat and massage.  Was nice, but I don’t want to have to plug in my chair, and have a cord run across the room so somebody can trip on it.  I woke baby girl up with all that shaking around.  I didn’t find anything I liked there, so we have to keep looking.

Aaron’s parents gave us money for the crib.  Thanks Bill and Terri! ♥  Aaron put it together just fine! …

What a handy-man he is!  It looks beautiful! ;)

Tomorrow is the big day.  I will be having an ultrasound done to make sure the CPCs are gone on baby girl’s brain, and I’ll be having that yucky glucose screening test done.  Keep us in your prayers!

Frogs, and Ice cream, and week 26!

Just a couple days ago I came home from work and heard the frogs singing in the small pond behind our back yard.  They made their beautiful noise all night long.  The sun was warm on my face, the flowers are blooming, baby girl is kicking, and I think she senses something beautiful is out here waiting for her :)

But right now it’s storming like hell, and it just finished hailing for about 5 minutes straight!  The ground is covered in white.  Spring is HERE :)

I’ve been drinking milk like CRAZY.  Almost a gallon of skim milk a day.  Two full days do not pass without Aaron buying milk.  I guess I’m craving the calcium.  I’ve always been a milk drinker, but now I can never get enough!  I tried organic milk, which I know is better for the baby, but it’s very expensive.  We would wrack up a huge monthly bill on organic milk at the rate I’m going.  So it’s back to regular.

I got to see my sweet Kelsey at work.  She is my co-worker’s daughter, and I’ve known her since she was a baby.  For 11 years I’ve got to watch her grow up.  She’s getting taller by the minute, and looks more like a teenager now.  It’s funny,  I never would have thought that someday she would get to see my own little baby :)   Even when baby girl is born, and I leave my job for good,  I will always stop in to visit everyone.  Kelsey, if you’re reading this… HI BEAUTIFUL! ♥

I am pretty much convinced my husband is the funniest man on the planet.   I was studying History on the couch in the living room the other night.  Aaron was sitting next to me eating ice cream.  All of the sudden I heard him groan, “Nnnn!  NNNEH!!”  I looked up quickly, alarmed only for a half-second until I realized what he had done.  His top lip was stuck to the spoon!  His eyes were wide, he was pulling on the spoon, and his lip just stretched further!  I completely lost it!  I laughed so hard I almost peed on the couch!  Really.  I had to run to the bathroom!   How does someone hurt themselves eating ice cream?  Leave it to my husband to accomplish this one.  Heaven forbid if our daughter is anything like him, I have my work cut out for me.  I’m going to have to watch her like a hawk when she gets her first bowl of ice cream.  Goodness.

This is the bassinet from Pottery Barn that my mom bought me.  GORGEOUS.

This Monday is my long awaited ultrasound to check and see if the baby’s Choroid Plexus Cysts (CPCs) are gone.  I was forewarned that it could be linked to Trisomy 18, a chromosomal disorder,  but in most cases these cysts go away all on their own with no negative effects on baby.  I am also getting a glucose tolerance test done to test for gestational diabetes.  I HATE needles, so I am not looking forward to this test.  Keep us in your prayers!

Cribs, $50, my Aunt Judy, and week 25!

Aaron and I went looking at cribs this past week.  Most of the cribs we looked at were way over priced and very flimsy, wobbly, and just cheaply made.  Babiesrus is WAY over-priced!  I don’t recommend shopping there.  We looked at Buy Buy Baby, Walmart, Kmart, and finally Target.   We finally found a good sturdy crib for an ok price at Target.

Before we went crib shopping, we stopped at a gas station to get a snack.  Aaron found a $50 bill on the floor!  I used it to buy a new pair of maternity pants :)

I think the baby had a growth spurt.  I’ve recently been feeling more round ligament pain.  My feet and ankles are starting to swell.  Actually everything under my knees looks swollen.  I need to buy some compression socks.  I can’t seem to catch my breath very easily, either.  It sort of feels like when I was in Colorado on our Honeymoon at Loveland Pass, 12,000 feet up!

My Aunt Judy sent me a surprise package in the mail.  Look! Look! …

I love them!  They’re so cute!  She’s the best! ♥
